OXFORD LOCAL EXAMINATIONS.

COMBINED SCHOOL AND LOCAL EXAMINATIONS, 1903,

1. REGULATIONS.

THE Delegates are prepared to undertake the Examination of Schools or Groups of Schools. Such an Examination may be conducted (1) by means of the Preliminary, Junior, Senior, or Higher Local Examination Papers, (2) by means of other Papers suited to the requirements of the School or Group of Schools. If any Local Examination Papers what- ever are used in such Examination, the School or Group of Schools must be constituted a Special Local Centre, as described below,

The answers to the Local Examination Papers will be looked over and reported upon, in the first place for the purpose of the School Examination, either by the Local Examina- tion Examiners, or by Examiners specially appointed by the Delegates (but not by the Masters: see 5); and in the second place for the purpose of the Local Examinations, by the Local Examination Examiners.

The answers to the other Papers may be looked over and marked either by the Examiners appointed by the Delegates, or by the Masters of the School. In each case they will be reported upon by the Examiners (with respect to the latter case see 5),

A vivê voce Examination may be held in such subjects as the Delegates, upon the application of the School authorities, may determine.

2. SPECIAL LOCAL CENTRES.

If the Examination is conducted wholly or in part by means of Local Examination Papers, the School or Group of Schools must be constituted a Special Local Centre, to which Candidates who are not members of the Schools may be admitted at the discretion of the School authorities, the permission of the Delegates having been previously obtained. The conditions as to superintendence and the formation of a Local Committee are the same as any other Local Centre, and are prescribed on p. 2 of the Regulations for Local Examina- tions. Every member of the School who is examined with a view to obtaining a Local Examination Certificate must become an ordinary Candidate for the Local Examinations, fill up the Form of Entry, and pay the prescribed Local Examination fee. If the answers of such a Candidate are looked over and reported upon for School purposes, the same charges will be made as in the case of members of the Schools who have not entered for the Local Examinations.

The Local Committee shall guarantee that the total amount payable by a Special Local Centre, in respect of the fees of Candidates and the cost of the School Examination, shall not in all be less than £30.

SPECIAL NOTICE-When the Entry Forms and other documents are sent to the Delegates from such a Special Local Centre, they must be accompanied by a cheque for this minimum sum (viz. £30). Any excess (not greater than £17) beyond the University Fees of Candidates will be placed to the credit of the School Examination Account. Thus, if the University Fees for Candidates for Certificates amount to £20, the sum of £10 will be credited to the School Examination Account; if the University Fees amount to £10, the sum of £17 (ONLY) will be credited to the said School Account,

3. EXAMINATION PAPERS.

Papers will be set, under the direction of the Delegacy, in accordance with the require- ments of the School. In some cases it may be found that the Delegacy have already in stock Papers on certain subjects, which are suitable for the School Examination, although they have not been specially set for the School. The Delegates wish it, however, to be understood that such Papers 'not specially set' exist for only

a limited and varying range

of subjects, and can be provided only when they are actually in stock.
